| Hyperopia (farsightedness) The hyperopic eye is too short. When the eye looks at a point in the distance, the visual image comes to a focus on a plane behind the retina. Its projection onto the retina is no longer a point but a round spot. The hyperope's vision can be satisfactory in the case of a small visual defect, thanks to the crystalline lens's accommodation effort. But the eye will soon get strained, especially for near vision. Hyperopia is compensated for with a convex or convergent lens. |
